This game was recommended to me by a friend (BT). This has been a big year for me to play games recommended to me, and consequently a pretty good year for gaming!

Visuals: This game is not visually stunning, but I don't think that's a goal here. Everything is stylized and for the most part very colorful. There are a few spots in the game that are intensely dark, but that is for story reasons. This game looks like and indie game, but that doesn't hold it back from being expressive at all.

Audio: The music in this game is excellent. It isn't distracting, and it expresses the emotion of the moment almost perfectly. The game uses a made up language for the characters with no translation for the players, so there's no voice acting to worry about. The objective quality of the voices seems to fit the characters that they are speaking for. The sound effects are only okay. They seemed a little hollow, but they didn't detract from the experience.

Plot: The plot of Brothers is where it really shines. This game is brutal. Despite featuring two children as the main characters, this is not a children's story unless you mean it in the context of Grimm's Fairy Tales. This game deals a lot with death, and a little with betrayal and guilt. The end is definitely the best part of the plot and I think it will live on in my mind for quite a while. I'd actually recommend this game almost entirely on the plot. I know this is a bit early for my verdict, but this is a great case for story-telling in video games.

Gameplay: This game plays pretty uniquely, and I suspect that it's pretty polarizing because of that. You use the two sticks on the controller to control each brother individually, with the left and right trigger being used for all interactions for each brother. It's definitely pretty tough to control, but I found that having the big brother (left stick) on the left helped me immensely. I went from being a mess to being passable keeping the brothers oriented with their respective control stick.

Overall! I'd definitely recommend this game. It has received a lot of awards and recognition for a damn good reason. This game has excellent story telling. Even though this is a simplistic game, it does a great job achieving what it sets out to achieve. I can definitely see the controls being divisive, but if you know about that going in, I think you have a good chance to enjoy this game quite a lot. I certainly did. 9/10
