I just wanted to type up my thoughts real quick here and I won't be going into the normal level of detail expected.
I finished playing the demo for this game on Friday afternoon and I walked away from it feeling unexpectedly excited about the FF7 Remake. I didn't have really high hopes. I know this is the favorite game of a lot of people, but it didn't really resonate with me when I played it in high school. I think it's safe to say that it didn't age well and I played it probably 10 years after release. The remake though is beautiful, both visually and aurally. The voice acting is surprisingly good, there is actually some subtext with the lines shown in the demo that I wasn't expecting/didn't remember from playing it ~15 years ago. The whole demo lasted about an hour and I found the gameplay really engaging. I walked away from it feeling pretty pumped about the game coming out! I don't really like them releasing the game as several different SKUs, each probably going for $60, but it does sound like they added a lot to the game. Fleshing out parts of the story that weren't originally. I think I'm going to wait for the inevitable PC release, or maybe wait until the entire game is available for purchase on the same system. At this point the game is only on PS4, but at their current release rate it might not be finished until the PS6. I don't want to fragment my progress across multiple systems and I don't want to forget what is happening in the plot between the episodic releases.
