No new games?

No new game reviews lately!

I've been kind of stressed and haven't really been in the mood to really sink my teeth into a new game. I'm feeling the stress lift and that desire return though!

"Surely you've been playing games!" Of course I have! I have been doing a mix of mopping up old achievements that I missed in games I really enjoyed and playing some roguelikes. For whatever reason doing these kinds of things always brings me some calm when I feel like life is out of my hands. "But what have you been playing? Do we get mini-reviews?" Yeah maybe. Sure!

The Messenger - I finally went back for that Star Messenger achievement! It wasn't as bad as I remembered, but I also have a controller that works now. I spent maybe an hour working on it and I was able to finish this game off with the 100% completion. Felt really nice!

Rogue Legacy - I hadn't played this game for years! But there's a lot of buzz about the sequel coming to Steam Early Access and I had a hankering. Some of those NG+ bosses were really tough! I actually feel like I walked away with a better understanding of the game now that I finished all the content that they had put in the game. It's weird how overcoming difficulty makes you appreciate something more. I finished the achievements just barely. One of them included beating the game in only 15 generations and I just barely managed.

Rogue Legacy 2 - I played the early access release for a couple of hours and I am stoked for this game to get some more content. I don't think I completely finished what was there, but what I played was very good!

Blasphemous - I replayed this game from start to finish to get some more of the achievements. Plus they just released a big content update called Stir of Dawn. I still adore this game, I'm really glad that they gave it some more content! Even just briefly talking about it I can kind of feel the call back to Blasphemous...

Dicey Dungeons - I have been playing a bit of this and like it so far! I'm planning on finishing it, so expect a full write-up at some point.

Spelunky - My current jam. When I played this before I only managed 1 win in about 60 hours. I've played about 12 more and managed 5 more wins! I just need to get one Hell win and I'll be giving this a write-up also. So excited for Spelunky 2! This game really is a work of art though. Everything about it is so elegant, I really can't wait to see what Derek Yu can cook up for the sequel coming out before long.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order? EA just added achievements to Steam, so I will probably be hopping back into this game to mop up those last achievements. I apparently only got 2/3 of them during my first run through! I am in no way upset about revisiting this game.

There's been some Breath of the Wild and Link to the Past thrown in as well. Replaying some Nioh and Dark Souls 3 with friends too. What's on the docket? Probably some Death Stranding and then playing through Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remaster when it comes out. Then maybe something spooky for Halloween? We'll see!
