This is a really quick played game that I started and completed in a day. That's a rarity these days! It wasn't particularly tricky or difficult apart from the boss fights, but it was quite enjoyable. The aesthetic is pretty minimal, it plays like an old NES or GameBoy game. Complete with some 8-bit graphics and sounds. The music is fine, the visuals are cute. The sound effects get a bit annoying. The plot was pretty simple, but fairly interesting! It seemed like there was a main story and a bit of world building, but they merged in the end to a single story that was pretty good for such a short game. I won't say it was nuanced, I think there were maybe 6 characters, but it was good for being so short.
Would I recommend this game? If it's on sale and you want a quick Metroidvania. I think $8 might be a little more than I would value this game, but $5 seems more than fair. It's not particularly a stand out game, but it is a nice morsel. [7/10]
