Quick review for a quick game!
This game plays like a love child of Mario 3d World and Mario Odyssey, encompassing the strengths of both games. You don't have quite the freedom of movement that you do in Odyssey because you don't have Cappy, but Mario is still very agile thanks to a dive and the many cat power-ups.
This game is honestly delightful in just about every way. The music, visuals, and gameplay are all solid. There's even a better plot here than in most Mario games! I really like the way they mixed the open-world and level-based shines to incorporate the slight differences you might see in Mario Sunshine or 64 within a particular course.
Real big shout out to the music, there's a nice mix of jazzy piano and metal music here that I really dig. I honestly think I'll have this on in the background at work or something in the future which is about as big of a compliment as I can pay. I honestly wish there was more. [10/10]
