A slow and methodic metroidvania with some Souls like combat. More Salt and Sanctuary than Hollow Knight for sure. I enjoyed my time with this game to some degree, it seemed like the world has been destroyed and has been reformed badly? Our character has a void for a head (a la Dead Cells) that you use to parry enemies. Small enemies can be absorbed right away via parry, but the bigger enemies must be whittled down before being parried/absorbed. You absorb several copies of each enemy type and then you can unlock an upgrade depending on each enemy type. It kind of reminded me of some of the GBA Castlevania games or more recently Bloodstained where you farm specific enemies for upgrades to your character.
I think the big selling point here is actually the art style. Everything in the game was made out of clay. and then animated in the game engine which is really neat! The lore seemed intriguing, a little like the story of Loop Hero. The gameplay seemed a bit slow though unfortunately, I don't think I am especially excited about it. Maybe it gets faster or tighter later in the game? It didn't seem particularly compelling in the demo/opening that I played. I think I will probably play this game at some point, but I won't pay full price for it I don't think. Not that I pay full price for hardly anything I suppose.
