I don't think I have any fresh or hot takes, but I kind of wanted to gush about the show and rant.
This show is so powerful because it works on so many levels. It shows how the rich/powerful view the poor and how expendable they are. We as the audience get to empathize with the players in the game, while the rick are entertained by the death of the players without having the connection to them. It really shows the importance of empathy. It can help solve so many problems. It's absurd that we don't have better safety nets for individuals. No one needs a billion dollars. This show really made me frustrated, which I think was the point.
Holy crap, how do more people not see the problems with capitalism. It blows my mind. The exploitation in this show can be generalized to so many different situations. There really is a huge issue about wealth disparity in America and it seems to be way worse in South Korea, where this show takes place. I'm voting to change how this country works, but I worry that it might be too little, too late. We need to change how the world works, how people are incentivized to grow their businesses. I don't know the solution and I don't think anyone else does either, but it's time to start changing until we can figure out what works better.
