Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith

 Quick little update!

This game was picked for my Game Club so I played it again with the new Relics of the Old Faith DLC. I started a fresh save file and I think they did improve the game. I still think the dungeon delving bits are a little simplistic but they did add a lot of variety here. There are more rooms, many of which are more complicated than the rooms in the base game. My only gripe here is that the turrets or some of the obstacles spawn their dangerous bits after you gain movement in the room. I was focused on enemies and walked into the obstacles frequently so I actually was hit more with the added DLC pack, maybe that was intended? They added charged moves to all the weapons and some shielded enemies that require a charge attack to make vulnerable. These are also a good addition, another thing to complicate the otherwise simple dungeons. The last improvement to the dungeons was the addition of relics, strong items many of which have multi-room cooldowns. They're basically spacebar items from Binding of Isaac and I feel like they should've been there from the start.

The updates to the management side included a few new buildings to hold multiple cult members when alive or dead and the kitchen. The morgue and kitchen were seriously game changers. My cult being able to move dead bodies to a safe disposal area while I was adventuring was really nice. I came back to a cleaner cult. And then the kitchen! It allows you to queue up food for your cult to cook. The brilliance here is that you can queue up to 30 meals where you could only cook 10 manually. And it seems like they made the meals as the cult got hungry so there wasn't as much chance of the food rotting. It was wonderful, easily my favorite thing that they added.

Overall I like the additions to the game! The game is in a better place now. I hope they continue adding to it or release a sequel at some point.
