I don't have a whole ton to say about this game... VERY clearly, heavily inspired by Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. They did the same art style, similar music, almost exactly the same combat system. I think the problem with emulating a game so closely as this is that it invites direct comparison with the game that inspired, and I don't think this game is nearly as good as Paper Mario TTYD. On it's own merits I do think this is a good game, but while playing I was constantly thinking about Paper Mario and that really did this game a disservice. With that being said, I don't think I could recommend this game with Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door recently getting a remake so it's easy to play. I haven't checked out the remake yet, but it's on my list. I am cautiously optimistic about whatever the developers make next. If it doesn't as closely mimic something I'll check it out.
More specific criticisms: Your characters don't really grow statistically, this is kind of an issue in a JRPG. The lack of attack upgrades was really wearing on me by the end of the game. This party of 3 didn't have quite enough variety like all the side characters in Paper Mario. The game was too serious as a whole, not a single gag about everything being made of paper. The end felt very rushed.
More specific praise: The characters felt unique in combat, everyone had their specialty. I think they pretty fully explored the combat system, not a whole lot of easy potential without added mechanics. Interesting medal system albeit with a horrible UI.
